Unlike colour-coded guessing games, Lexicon tells you only how many letters are correct and how many are simply present — never which ones. That single change turns a pattern-matching game into a real deduction game. Open a hint only when you are stuck — they are ordered from gentlest to most direct, and none of them give the answer away.
Hint 1: Open with coverage, not cleverness
Your first two guesses should touch ten different high-frequency letters — something like CRANE then MOIST. Numeric feedback is only useful when it partitions the alphabet, so overlapping letters early wastes an entire turn.
Hint 2: Use probe words to isolate letters
When a guess returns '2 present', follow it with a word that keeps only half of the suspect letters. The change in the count tells you which half was responsible — this is binary search applied to vocabulary.
Hint 3: Track positions on paper for hard mode
On the hardest level the answer pool is wider. Writing a five-slot grid and crossing off positions as counts rule them out is faster than holding it all in your head, and it prevents the classic mistake of re-testing a letter you already eliminated.

How today's puzzle works

- 2Lexicon replies with three numbers: how many letters are in the correct position, how many are in the word but misplaced, and how many are absent.
- 3You are never told which letters those numbers refer to — that is the puzzle.
- 4Use each answer to eliminate candidate words, then guess again. You get eight attempts.
- 5The daily word is the same for every player. Practice mode generates a fresh word instantly.
