Rules

Guess the hidden eight-character equation in six tries. Type digits and + − × ÷ = and press Enter.

Green means the character is correct and in the right place. Yellow means it's in the equation but elsewhere. Grey means it isn't used at all.

Every guess must itself be a true equation — the left side must actually equal the right side.

Hard mode (Pro) forces you to reuse every hint you've revealed in your next guess.

A new equation appears every day at 00:00 UTC. Practice mode is unlimited.

Equate strategy

Open with an equation that uses varied digits and one operator

An opener like 12+34=46 tests six different digits and one operator at once. Starting with a multiplication or division equation narrows things down slower, since fewer distinct digits appear.

Track the operator position, not just the digits

The operator and the equals sign each occupy a fixed slot in the eight-character answer. Once you know where '=' sits, you've effectively learned the split between the expression and the target — that's real structural information, not just a character clue.

Use order of operations to rule out entire equation shapes

If your feedback shows a '*' or '/' is present but not in its guessed position, remember multiplication/division always resolves before addition/subtraction — that constrains which shapes (a+b*c=d vs a*b+c=d) are even possible.
