Equate — Free Daily Math Guessing Puzzle
Six guesses. Green means right spot, yellow means wrong spot.
Equate is a free daily math puzzle in the spirit of Nerdle: guess a hidden eight-character equation in six tries, with green, yellow and grey feedback per digit and operator. Every guess must itself be a true equation, so the game rewards both arithmetic and deduction. Free, no signup, one new equation every day at 00:00 UTC, with unlimited practice in between.

Rules
Guess the hidden eight-character equation in six tries. Type digits and + − × ÷ = and press Enter.
Green means the character is correct and in the right place. Yellow means it's in the equation but elsewhere. Grey means it isn't used at all.
Every guess must itself be a true equation — the left side must actually equal the right side.
Hard mode (Pro) forces you to reuse every hint you've revealed in your next guess.
A new equation appears every day at 00:00 UTC. Practice mode is unlimited.
How to play Equate
- 1Enter any true eight-character equation using digits and + − × ÷ =, and submit it.
- 2Green means the character is correct and in the right position, yellow means it's in the equation but elsewhere, grey means it isn't used at all.
- 3Every guess must itself be a mathematically correct equation — not just any string of digits and symbols.
- 4You have six guesses to find the hidden equation.
- 5The daily equation resets at 00:00 UTC and is the same for every player.
Equate strategy
Open with an equation that uses varied digits and one operator
An opener like 12+34=46 tests six different digits and one operator at once. Starting with a multiplication or division equation narrows things down slower, since fewer distinct digits appear.
Track the operator position, not just the digits
The operator and the equals sign each occupy a fixed slot in the eight-character answer. Once you know where '=' sits, you've effectively learned the split between the expression and the target — that's real structural information, not just a character clue.
Use order of operations to rule out entire equation shapes
If your feedback shows a '*' or '/' is present but not in its guessed position, remember multiplication/division always resolves before addition/subtraction — that constrains which shapes (a+b*c=d vs a*b+c=d) are even possible.
Equate vs Nerdle and other math guessing games
Equate keeps the format players already know from Nerdle-style games and adds the things those sites usually charge for or leave out.
