Rules

Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries. Type a word and press Enter.

Green means the letter is correct and in the right place. Yellow means the letter is in the word but elsewhere. Grey means it isn't in the word at all.

Hard mode (Pro) forces you to reuse every hint you've revealed in your next guess.

A new word appears every day at 00:00 UTC. Practice mode is unlimited.

Quintle strategy

Spend guess one on vowels and common consonants

Words like SLATE, CRANE or ROAST test five of the most frequent letters at once. A rare-letter opener feels clever but usually returns five greys, which teaches you almost nothing.

Do not chase a single green too early

Locking a known letter into place on guess two narrows your options but blocks you from testing new letters. Until you have three confirmed letters, prioritise information over progress.

Watch for double letters late

When you have four letters confirmed and still cannot land the word, the answer usually repeats a letter — think ABBEY, ERROR, GEESE. Most failed grids end this way.

Quintle vs Word500 and other five-letter games

Quintle keeps the format most people learned from Wordle-style games and adds the things those sites usually charge for or omit.
